Generic Levitra, otherwise known as Vardenafil HCL, is a powerful medication for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. In many ways, erectile dysfunction could be described as an epidemic which affects millions of men world wide. It is estimated that over forty percent of men over the age of forty experience some form of erectile dysfunction, and the condition is regarded as a common one by the medical profession.

In spite of its common status, erectile dysfunction is still a heavy blow for men who normally do not anticipate its onset. Suddenly the erections that used to plague them in their youth are nowhere to be found, even when desired. Alternatively, men may find that they are able to get an erection, but that it is not hard enough to achieve penetration, or that it goes soft in the middle of intercourse. Generic Levitra (and other PDE5 inhibitors such as Tadalafil and Viagra) cannot treat erectile dysfunction when the cause is a physical injury to the penis, if there are serious underlying cardiovascular conditions causing erectile dysfunction, or if the ED is being caused by psychological issues such as depression or other psycho sexual issues.

Why Generic Levitra?

Generic Levitra Side Effects

There are several mild and quite common side effects associated with Generic Levitra. These include a stuffy nose, a runny nose, headaches, indigestion, a sore stomach, and flushing. These side effects are nothing to be worried about as long as they are mild and pass relatively quickly.

More serious potential side effects include an erectile state called ‘priapism’, in which a painful erection persists for several hours. If any erection lasts for more than four hours, seek treatment immediately, as damage to the tissues of the penis can occur if treatment is not received.

Some men also report a slight blue tinge to their vision after taking Generic Levitra. This is somewhat common to many PDE5 inhibitors, but should be reported to your doctor if it occurs.

More seriously is the (highly remote) chance that loss of vision or hearing could occur. Though this has not been officially linked to use of generic Levitra, there have been some reports of these occurrences connected with PDE5 inhibitors. At this stage however there is no clinical evidence to suggest that PDE5 inhibitors cause blindness or deafness.

Generic Levitra Contraindications

In some cases it is not safe to take generic Levitra. Generic Levitra is a prescription medication, and you should consult with your doctor before taking this medication. If taken incorrectly, or in combination with other medication, fainting, strokes, heart attacks and death can ensue. Men who take drugs on a recreational basis should not take generic Levitra, as the results can be unpredictable and potentially fatal.

Men taking nitrates for heart conditions are not able to take generic Levitra, or any PDE5 inhibitor, as the interaction of these two medications can be deadly. Those taking alpha blockers should also consult with their doctors in advance, as there can be problems with the interaction of generic Levitra and alpha blockers also.

Men who have been advised not to indulge in sexual activity should not take generic Levitra, as the strain on the heart during sexual intercourse can be considerable, and can lead to serious medical emergencies.

If you are suffering from heart disease, or are on medication for other conditions such as liver disease, kidney disease, diabetes, stomach ulcers, or blood disease, then your doctor will work with you to find an appropriate starting dose of generic Levitra, or find an alternative treatment that will work with your particular condition.

Generic Levitra is a very safe medication if used properly according to a GP’s advice. Consulting with your GP is essential, especially if you suffer from other health complaints, or if you are over the age of 50.
